Overview

Traditional agricultural supply chains often depend on intermediaries who purchase products from farmers at low prices before selling them to buyers at significantly higher margins. This creates an imbalance where farmers receive less value while buyers pay more than necessary.

BamSys was created to bridge this gap by providing a centralized platform where farmers and buyers can connect, communicate, and manage transactions more directly.

Understanding the Problem

Before designing interfaces, I focused on understanding how agricultural products moved from farms to buyers.

The Challenge

The challenge was designing a platform that could encourage trust between people who traditionally relied on intermediaries.

The product needed to simplify complex workflows, support users with different levels of digital literacy, and create a transparent marketplace without overwhelming its users.

The Solution

The final product combines CRM capabilities with a marketplace experience into a single platform designed specifically for agricultural businesses.

The interface was designed around clarity, consistency, and efficiency, allowing users to complete essential tasks with minimal friction.

Information Architecture

With CRM + marketplace functionality in one product, the challenge was keeping navigation simple. The experience was organized around five core areas. Structure before styling.

Design Approach

Reduce complexity by presenting only the information users need at each stage. Help users make informed decisions through clear pricing, communication, and data visibility. Build a flexible design system capable of supporting future product growth and additional modules.

Final Thought

Technology shouldn't replace people—it should remove the barriers that prevent them from working together. Every decision in BamSys was driven by that belief, creating a product designed to make agricultural trade more transparent, accessible, and equitable.

Outcome

BamSys demonstrates how product design can contribute to solving challenges beyond software.

By reducing unnecessary intermediaries and improving communication between farmers and buyers, the platform creates opportunities for more transparent transactions and fairer agricultural trade.

Beyond the interface, the project established a scalable product foundation that can continue evolving alongside the needs of its users.

Reflection

This project reinforced that successful digital products begin with understanding systems—not screens.

What initially appeared to be a CRM project became an opportunity to rethink how people interact, build trust, and exchange value within agricultural commerce.

Leading both product strategy and design allowed me to connect research, business goals, and user experience into one cohesive process. Rather than treating design as the final step, it became a tool for shaping the product from its earliest decisions.
